Most claims entrepreneurs make about themselves live nowhere but their own website or social profile. That is not a criticism, it is simply how self reported information works, it cannot be checked against anything outside the person making the claim. The registry exists specifically to fix that gap.

A registry entry is created only after an entrepreneur has been independently reviewed against the Entrepreneur Verification Standards, the same five proof points applied to every applicant regardless of package or country. Once an entry exists, it typically includes a unique ID number, the verified individual’s name, and a confirmation that their credentials were checked, not simply submitted.

Plenty of platforms will list any business that signs up. The distinction that actually matters is covered in detail in Registry vs Business Directory, but the short version is this, a directory listing means someone filled out a form, a registry entry means someone’s claims were independently checked before the entry was created.

This is also why registry inclusion sits at the top of the Verification Ladder, it is the most confirmable form recognition can take, above self declared claims, testimonials, or even independent verification alone.

In practice, three groups check registry entries most often. Investors and partners doing due diligence before a deal, journalists confirming a source’s credentials before publishing, and customers deciding whether to trust a business owner they have not met in person.
